Favorite Breakfast Muesli

I love mornings.
Even on the weekends you can find me up and at 'em, ready to start the day with excitement.

For those of you grinding your teeth at the thought of it, don't worry, being a morning person has plenty of downsides besides looking obnoxiously happy at the ungodly hours of sunrise.

For one, most other people I know aren't even up when I'm ready for a cup of coffee and a good chat. And secondly, getting up earlier means I can't stay up late to save my life. My Cinderella hour is usually just about midnight at which point I head straight to bed, or fall asleep on the unsuspecting person standing next to me.

I'd just prefer to go to bed and save myself the embarrassment.
But whether you're a morning person or not, this yummy breakfast will give even the wildest night owl a happy way start to the day. It's my favorite breakfast, with a cup of hot coffee, and a fresh piece of toasted bread with jam.

Simple, healthy, and delicious.
Make it the next time you have to get up a bit earlier than usual. It will give you something to look forward to when the rest of the world is sleeping away.

Favorite Breakfast Muesli

1 cup of plain, organic yogurt
1/4-1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 apple, diced
1/3 cup uncooked whole oats
small handful walnuts, roughly chopped
small handful raisins
1 tbl +1 tsp local honey

Combine the yogurt, cinnamon, and teaspoon of honey in a small bowl. Sprinkle the oats, chopped walnuts, apples, and raisins over the top of the yogurt. Drizzle the yogurt mixture with the remaining tablespoon of honey and eat it up. Best served with a slice of whole grain bread and a cup of dark, freshly brewed coffee.

  3. I love your descriptions of muesli and mornings and can't wait to try your recipe. I'm one of those people in the middle I'm afraid; I like to get up not too late, say between 7:30 and 8am, even on weekends but rarely go to bed after midnight. It sounds pathetic, I know.

  4. @Anna- Thanks for the compliment on the photo. It's actually a 'Cara Cara' orange. It's kind of a mix between a grapefruit and a navel orange. So delicious. I hope you are doing well too, it's great to hear from you!

@Marm- I hope you enjoy! It is truly one of my favorite breakfasts.

@Vanessa- It doesn't sound pathetic at all, I need a lot of sleep too. I'm embarrassed to say it, but I actually like going to bed early. It's a little indulgence for me.
